Black Basalt Gravel 5/8" Minus

Black Basalt Gravel 5/8" Minus is a jet-black crushed rock that is very uniform in color. This "minus" type includes pieces from 5/8" down to dust. It will compact tightly and stay in place. The 5/8" size is a standard for light & medium duty pathways and driveways. We are proud to be one of the only carriers of this gorgeous gravel in Seattle.

Consider this...
This material is similar to our Black Basalt Gravel 3/4" minus, and customers often ask us about which one is better to use for their project. It really comes down to the nuances of 1/8" difference in size and how you're going to use the surface. We think that 3/4" minus holds up better to heavier traffic like vehicles, but doesn't compact quite as smooth. On the other hand, 5/8" minus will be a better surface for smaller wheels and foot paths - and it'll hold up to light-weight usage just fine.

It really depends on how much of what kind of traffic the material will be handling.
